Plagiarism Policy
PANHSJ upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. To ensure the originality of submitted works, every manuscript is subjected to a plagiarism screening process prior to the peer-review stage.
Plagiarism Detection System
All submitted manuscripts are checked using Turnitin and other reliable plagiarism detection software. The similarity reports are carefully evaluated by the editorial team, and authors will be notified if any issues arise.
- Similarity Threshold: Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references, quotations, and common phrases) will be returned for revision or rejected, depending on severity.
- Acceptable Overlap: A similarity level below 20% may be tolerated if properly cited and deemed acceptable by the editorial board.
Types of Plagiarism
Authors are expected to avoid the following practices:
- Direct Plagiarism – Copying sentences or paragraphs verbatim from another source without citation.
- Substantial Plagiarism – Using significant portions of another scholar’s work (text, data, figures, or tables) without attribution.
- Paraphrasing without Attribution – Restating another author’s ideas without proper acknowledgment.
- Self-Plagiarism (Redundant Publication) – Republishing one’s own previously published work without citation or justification, including simultaneous submissions to multiple journals.
Editorial Actions
In cases where plagiarism is detected, Javano-Islamicus will apply the following measures:
- Minor Plagiarism (<20%) – Authors are asked to revise and provide proper citations.
- Moderate Plagiarism (20–40%) – Manuscript is returned for major revision, with a resubmission deadline.
- Severe Plagiarism (>40% or wholesale copying) – Manuscript is rejected outright. If discovered after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors’ institutions may be notified.
Author Responsibility
Before submission, authors must ensure that:
- Their manuscript is original and free from plagiarism.
- All sources, data, and quotations are properly cited.
- Any overlap with previous works is clearly referenced and justified.
Commitment to Research Integrity
Through this policy, PANHSJ seeks to uphold the credibility of scholarly communication, protect intellectual property rights, and foster a culture of honesty, responsibility, and academic excellence.
